52 Weeks of Memories- Week 1

Finding Myself Young 52 Weeks of Memories

Sooo...I am sure this should've been posted sooner, but what can I say. Too many blog challenges going on right now.  To participate in this one, check out the blog, Finding Myself Young

The prompt for Week 1 is Summer. Obviously for the folks in Australia, where the blog challenge stems from, this makes a lot of sense. Unfortunately I am where it is nowhere near summer. So this week you get an old photo.

This is my handsome hubby and my super cute son riding the carousel at the local county fair over the summer. Summer here is nice and carefree for me. I love summer!

31 Day Blog Challenge, Days 10 & 11

So I guess I've gone to every other day now. I've just been too tired to make blogging happen everyday now.  Anyway...here goes:

Day 10: First Celebrity Crush

My first celebrity crush was an actor named Andrew Keegan.  You can check him out here.  I only recall thinking he was cute. I've never been too goo goo gah gah crazy over celebrities though. I remember a girl from church told me I should write him a letter, so I did, and then never sent it. I didn't even think he'd been in anything recently. but according to IMDB he has! Who knew! I clearly haven't followed him.

Day 11: Most Proud Moment

This is easy. I've never been more proud of myself then the day I got my college degree.  It took so much longer then I'd have ever planned and to finally get it was amazing! Just knowing I did it makes me smile still.

31 Day Blog Challenge, Days 8 & 9

Sorry I missed yesterday. I was too tired at nap time and at bedtime to feel like blogging.  I just wanted to veg out. Anyway....here I am back today!

Day 8's prompt was an old photo of me:

This is at, I believe, age 7. I loved this dress and remember thinking how pretty I felt in this photo.

Day 9's prompt is: Piercings & Tattoos.

I have 5 piercings (3 in one ear & 2 in the other.) Used to be 6, but in the middle of our IVF cycle with Matthew the 3rd piercing in my right ear just randomly came out in the middle of the night. No blood or anything, I just recall my earring coming out and it was gone. I've meant to have it redone and just never gotten to it. It's a strange reminder of that time in our lives.

As for tattoos....none of those. I am kind of scared to get something so permanent done to my body. I am really picky about things related to my looks. I rarely change up my look without a lot of thought first. (Seriously go ask my friends about my hair cutting debate...which I just did, but it took me months upon months to do it!)
Anyway...I doubt at this point I'll ever get a tattoo, but if I do it'll be well thought out and mean something big.

Toodles and see you tomorrow!

31 Day Blog Challenge, Day 7: 10 Favorite Foods

Aloha! Today's prompt is 10 favorite foods. It's no secret if you follow me on Pinterest that I LOVE food! When I am stressed I can hardly eat, but dang when I am feeling good about life, I can eat.
Tonight's dinner was pot roast and I must say I thought it was exceedingly tasty...my kids on the other hand, while they aren't fans....yet!

So onto the prompt!  10 of my favorite foods (in no particular order):

1. Pizza

2. A juicy cheeseburger

3. Tacos/Mexican food

4. Strawberries

5. French Fries

6. Ground turkey (So kind of a strange one, but I say this because I've been replacing beef with turkey for almost 2 years now and it just makes the food so delicious! Plus it's healthier, so win win.)

7. Macaroni & Cheese

8. Hot Pretzels with cheese

9. Cotton Candy (hot & fresh...none of that store bought bagged stuff)

10. Popcorn (My husband is a movie buff, so I make him bring me home popcorn every single time, which reminds me....I think he needs to see a new movie soon.)

Did anyone else notice most of these include cheese? I love good cheese! :)

31 Day Blog Challenge, Day 6: 3 Personality Traits

Finally!! I am back on the laptop! 2 days blogging on my phone was difficult. I got it done though! You do what you gotta do, right?

This cute doggie has nothing to do with today's post, but he just needed his picture on the blog.

Today's prompt is 3 personality traits I am proud of....

1. My compassion & love for life. It makes me a better person and a more friendly person That's all I can say.

2. My drive to get stuff done. I haven't always had this admittedly. It's only in the last year or 2 I noticed it flaring up. I think that's a good thing though. And hey the energy it affords me annoys so many people. lol!

3. Organized! Not sure if being organized is really a personality trait, but I love having everything in it's place and knowing where I am supposed to be & when and doing what.

31 Day Blog Challenge, Day 5: Guilty Pleasure

I am once again blogging via my phone. This time due to computer issues.

The prompt today is of course guilty pleasure. My guilty pleasure is television. I don't watch as much as I used to (probably a good thing....haha!) and I DVR pretty much everything I watch. Specifically The Bachelor/Bachelorette shows are my particular tv guilty pleasure.
And guess what? I'm currently watching The Bachelor on television right now. How fitting, right?

So let's talk The Bachelor.....I love Chris Soules. He seems amazing. I hope he finds someone or did find someone great.
Oh and Nikki talking about Juan Pablo....wow was she talking around the questions. She was very restrained. Man I wanted more dirt. Lol

Okay off to watch the rest of the show! Cya tomorrow!

31 Day Blog Challenge, day 4: Childhood Memory

First I am writing this post from the app on my iPhone. I've never tried it before. We'll have to see how this goes. Onto the prompt!
Today's prompt is what is your earliest childhood memory.
The earliest memory I have is an Easter from when I was a toddler. I am sitting on my Aunt Carol's lap and I have an Easter egg in my hand. I'm holding it up and trying to eat it. There's actually a picture of this memory so sometimes I question how much I really recall the event.
Beyond that I recall days at preschool. The preschool I went to was they the park district where I lived at the time. My mom worked so my dad took me to school. I was always bummed that my mom wasn't there. I remember one time she was able to come to school and I was so excited! It was the best day.

That's my childhood memories for you! I hope you enjoyed them.

31 Day Blog Challenge, Day 3: Meaning of your business name

Sooo....this is a tad bit difficult. I don't have a business. And honestly I am not interested in owning a business. I just don't think I'd be good at it.

My Mom has a business and she rocks at it. Hey...go check it out here: Seasonal Coverings

She rocks at making stuff.  I, on the other hand, had to suck up to the  sewing teacher in middle school to pass with an A. Oh and did I mention my Mom definitely helped me get through the class after I cut a hole with the serger. Still not sure how I did that.  I am certain my Mother died a little inside with every nutty sewing mistake I made.  Oh and I own a sewing machine simply so my Mom has something to sew on when she comes to visit.

Sooo....on to day 4 tomorrow! See you then!

31 Day Blog Challenge, Day 2: 20 Facts About Me

I am certain yesterday's introduction told you a lot, so some of these may align with my introduction. I'll do my best to not repeat anything though.  Here goes:

1. I love to decorate things. (Thus my new planner is a fun project for me.)
2. It's hard to get me to deviate from a written recipe. I just can't do it.
3. I still look at my college degree on the wall with great satisfaction. I like knowing I got the degree.
4. I seriously want an iPad in the worst way.
5. Despite knowing tons of people and doing tons of things, I still feel lonely at times.
6. My DVR is always full. I love a lot of shows, but rarely have time to watch them.
7. I don't care for yellow gold jewelry. I don't think it looks good with my skin tone.
8. I am pretty sure I left my library card account with a fine due when we moved from Hawaii.
9. My pride for my high school runs deep. I love that school.
10. I love the smell of new school supplies
11. If I could justify it, I'd own more shoes.
12. I really, really, really want to like running, but I just don't.
13. I call my Mom when I am bored (she's well aware of this too, I'm sure.)
14. I wish I were better at painting my own finger nails. I own such nice nail polish.
15. Looking at houses makes me realize how picky I am or how nice the houses I grew up in were.
16. I love to ramble, which bugs my husband so much. :)
17. Popcorn is my favorite snack.
18. I still haven't 100% gotten into Twitter. I doubt I ever will.

20. Nothing makes me happier then seeing my kids smile or laugh.

Well that took way too long. Nap time is almost over for the kiddos! Toodles!

31 Day Challenge- Introduction

It's January 1st of 2015 and I figured what better way to start off the new year then with an amazing 31 day blog challenge. I first saw this challenge on my friend Tammy's Facebook page. After a little searching, I found the original source.

Check it out here!

In case the type is too small, the first day is introduction!

My name is Liz. I'm nearly 30. I currently plant my dot on the map in Western Washington state.  A place that I am basically allergic to (no really I have so many allergies to mold/grass/tress etc...that I really say I am allergic to living here. It's nuts.)
Originally I am from the Midwest.  A place I couldn't wait to get out of as fast as possible, but now miss a ton!
I am a wife to a sailor in case you missed that part.
I am a Mom to 2 kids and 2 cats (the dog lives with my Mother in Law.)
I am an Ombudsman for the Navy and do everything there is to support Navy personal & their families. I can't say no to anything (well except that one thing I did say no to and still feel a twinge guilty about.)
I danced ballet for years and now just follow it religiously.
I read as much as possible. I managed 48 adult books in 2014. I was hoping for 52, but I'll take it. Now if we counted kids books I really would've made my goal.
My friends continue to span the globe. Hi Danee in Aussie!!! <--- and="" australia.="" away="" br="" friend="" furthest="" i="" in="" know="" love="" my="" nbsp="" people="" s="" she="" that="">I'm a Catholic. An actual practicing Catholic. Except I haven't been to confession since 2003.
And I am generally just happy, energetic and love life.  Minus the days I've had enough of the grey here and then I am just tired!

Ps. I love Pinterest. Check mine out!
