POTW: GHD Straightener

(It's my first time participating in POTW.  It's one of those things I've always meant or wanted to do, but never did.  Well today when I should be working while my son is sleeping, I am instead blogging.)

 

GHD straightener!  Anyone who knows me super well knows I deal with wavey hair. To combat this annoying hair type, I use this straightener. Yes, it's pricey, but well worth it.  Almost any bad hair day can be fixed with this little thing.
(And wow do I sound like a bad infomercial....yikes...maybe next time I participate I can do better.)

So welcome, welcome from Naval Station Kitsap-Bangor! We live *drumroll* on base! Military housing ended up being easier here for the time being. We aren't really in the market to buy a house here, because unlike my spouse I am not quite sure I really want to put down roots here. No offense to the Northwestern part of the country.

So how is it, you ask? Well....it's different. Despite the nay-sayers, the sun does come out more then once a month. In fact I can say most days we've seen it come out even for a short bit. Minus the rain, the weather reminds me of fall in the Midwest. I am working on getting used to it. I feel the same sort of loneliness that I felt when I first moved to Hawaii. Hopefully if I can meet some more people, I'll feel less lonely.

The base is: huge/super secure/hidden. No one gets on this base or to our house without an ID or an escort. Yeah, I am not used to that at all since in Hawaii you don't actually live on base.

The move-in: it went well, once the movers could actually get on base. One of them had a criminal record, so they wouldn't let him on the base even with an escort, so we had to wait for the company to send someone else for our household goods to be delivered. The whole thing ended up being sort of comical!
We are all unpacked. We just have some pictures that haven't been hung up yet. I am waiting on my Mom to help with the curtains, plus the brackets for my curtain rods seemed to have not made the trip from Hawaii....yeah, not sure where they went since we know they took them down.

Matthew is doing alright. I successfully got him a good pediatrician. She's soo much better then the original doctor he got assigned. He has only gained 2 oz. in the past 6 weeks so we have to go back in 2 weeks to check on his weight. They surmise the weight issue is a result of my milk supply diminishing (long story), so we are supplementing with formula. My guilt over this is enormous. I really wanted to EBF for longer.

I am back in the classroom to finish my degree. I felt really good about the first assignments, so hopefully things continue going well.

National Infertility Awareness Week is coming up next week and I plan to blog, though I don't really know what I'll say about it, so stay tuned.
